Home School Adventures: Deer and Sheep

This fall Thursdays are our field trip day. My mom comes over to spend time with Kyle and Taylor, while Josie, Simon, and I go to the library, museums, and our homeschool co-op.
At the co-op a couple weeks back, the outdoor survival teacher brought a fawn her family had rescued.
It was so cute, and willing to be petted by the kids. Even her little deer droppings were cute!
You can see this sheep being sheared for the first time ever.
I took Jos and Si to an event called "Sheep to Shawl" at the Shiloh Historical Museum.
Then we went into the log cabin on the grounds to behold the spinning various fibers.
carding wool

spinning angora rabbit fur

dinner a cookin' for the volunteers that day

We also learned about weaving and got to try it if we wanted.

found my sis-in-law's name on plaque from when she donated to the museum as a kid

I love that you have Thursday field trips. I think that if I lived close to you, you would have me convinced to homeschool along with you.

I can't believe how big your kids are getting! What a fun field trip, too. We've tried to do that as much as possible whenever we've lived in a field-trip-able place.
