Y'all have been waiting to see pictures of our
humble abode in Texas. I can confidently say "y'all" now that I live in Texas too.
Consider yourself lucky that I can't find the "before" pictures. We
rented it sight unseen because it's all we could find, and it
was yucky yucky yucky to start with. Because it was
built in 1940, when we were being nice, we called it "vintage". Think: roaches, places in the
wall, where we could see light coming from outside, leaking water
heater, mold, drains not draining, grime, nasty carpet, etc.

After me crying often, considering breaking our lease,
prayer, and a
serious conversation with our landlord, he has slowly but surely
improved upon the house. He even
expanded the kitchen and put in a
dishwasher. (The kitchen formerly had room for approximately one and a half persons,
but who all wants to hang out in a kitchen with painted wood
countertops?)

With a spirit of authenticity, these pictures are of an
untidied house. This is just
what the house looked like yesterday morning between 10 and 11. It is still a tiny place (
1000 sq ft) but it
feels like home because this is where our family lives.

If I could figure out Blogger better, you could see the photos in the right order, but, oh well!

| I love my vintage radio-turned entertainment center |
As for decorating, I am totally satisfied with some of the spaces; others are a work in progress. When you
thrift shop, you adjust things a little at a time. The white walls let me have fun with pops of color, and I would still like a
bit more brightness (purple?), and I may paint our green back chairs coral.

You remind me of a quote I heard "Some people look for a beautiful place. Some people make a place beautiful"-- something like that. Your home is simply beautiful. I love the beam! And the color pops! Everything!
I want to come by, it looks so cozy and you. And if by 'make their bed' you mean throw all the sleeping supplies in a pile on the bed, then yes. My kids do make their beds :)
I hope to visit someday and thrift with you for many years in the future
