When I used to put "organized" on my resume, I really meant it. It's pretty much my favorite thing to do; but is also kind of a compulsion. For instance, this afternoon, Patrick has taken Josie off my hands. He is doing the shopping with her to let me rest. (I know, what a great husband, huh?) Well, I had to talk myself out of spending this precious alone time in the garage sorting through boxes of childhood memorabilia that were in my Dad's garage, but are now in ours.
When I get groceries, my list (love those things!) is organized spatially according to the layout of the store. Then, I section my cart according to food group-- I start with produce, so I don't fill up with processed stuff and don't have room for it.
Last week it was clothes. My closet is now sorted:
Top rack, L to R:
I. Sell on Consignment
II. Maternity
A. Skirts
B. Long sleeved
C. Short sleeved
III. Non-Maternity Skirts
Lower rack, L to R:
I. Non-Maternity
II. A. Short sleeved
B. Long sleeved
And, each section is ordered by color.
Do you think this is a bit crazy? In my defense, I say there's nothing wrong with it because I enjoy it and it makes my life easier at crucial times.

when my apt. is being taken over much by mice, i compulsively start bleaching things in fear of hunta virus (sp?) because of my years in az... i almost feel like the animal farm might be happening at my house. :( gross!!!

This is my favorite post ever. Just reading about organization makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I LOOOOOOOVE to organize. I have all of my children's picture books organized by size. And, when I have a crawling baby, I pack them in the shelves as tight as I can so that they can't be pulled out by anyone younger than three.
Allen keeps messing up the DVD organization--all the Disney movies GO TOGETHER, and the ones with the extra box-sleeve like to be by each other, not mixed with the sans-sleeve Disneys.
Your closet reminds me of Carmen's closet in college. She taught me how to organize by color of the rainbow (I still do it).
