one o' those winter days

Lest my readers think that the life represented in this blog is always fine and dandy, let me describe a scene from today. I am standing at the stove attempting to create lunch from whatever is around. Simon is teething on magnets from the fridge and whining. Josie is begging for food and whining. I am trying to not raise my voice. We're all hungry. Some of us are tired. But, the joy of motherhood comes in moments, right? How about the moment when Josie decided she could go to sleep by herself if we just left the door open? Sweet: let's think about that one right now. How about the moment Simon said, "Dadda-iii". Sweet again. So, I'll just breathe and remember that soon we will all be sitting at the table happy for a while until I have to wipe liquid teething biscuit from the whole front of Simon. Merry Christmas. Enjoy the moments.

Yes. The real "in the trenches" descriptions are always my favorites to read about. I love you, Juli Sallings! Merry Christmas!

This made me feel better about all of my daily mom moments that are less than picture perfect. Thank you for sharing.

The other day I just read Pres. Monson's talk about enjoying the journey. Although I heard the talk, after reading it I decided it was my favorite. I'll have to keep re-reading it.
