Just checking in.
I was out working on landscaping today. I love designing, transplanting, and moving rocks and dirt. We have had some nice January days with warmer weather in the 50's and 60's but I know the good for nothing month of February is coming up. I still need to get the rest of the leaves into my garden bed, so we can put manure and soil on top to prepare for planting. My mom is gonna work my garden this summer, and her stuff turns out great.
Dinner cooked while I finished up outside: chicken marinated in Wishbone Mediterranean Italian dressing, penne with Classico's sundried tomato pesto. Our veggie was steamed broccoli salted with Realsalt- this stuff from the salt flats or something in Utah. It is so good, almost sweet with its minerals. I bought the pesto because it comes in the cutest little mason jar- square with a small round top, short and squatty, perfect for a juice glass. Taylor and I ate Jovial gluten free brown rice pasta, which I was very happy with- tasted great and had a good consistency. Awaiting his initial bloodwork for allergies, we believe Taylor may have a wheat sensitivity. I have suspicions that I do too and am experimenting to see if some symptoms lessen. Anyway, my dad brought me over some wheat, so I still make whole wheat bread for the rest of the family. Check out my recipe on a cute printable card my friend Becca made here: http://bexrecipebox.blogspot.com/2012/03/satiny-whole-wheat-bread.html?m=1.
Homeschooling has been going well. Right after breakfast, the older two usually go play, while I have book time with the little guys. Then when Taylor goes for his nap, I do school with Josie and Simon. We are focusing on reading and math at this point. Simon loves direct learning; Josie is more passive with it. I think it will work well to teach them together. That is a major benefit in having kids close together.
How do you feel about things this winter?

as for the winter comment...i feel good about seeing the sun so much this winter... that will be ending feb 2nd but until then, cheers to you golden globe in the sky!
since our January has been super foggy and cold and rainy, I'm hoping February will be a little more happy. I would love to want to go outside.
Nate and I have started to collect glass jars (mostly from his parents, they bring us a box full every time they visit) to store things in--dried banana chips, nuts, etc. They are fun shapes.
I'm hoping February will be warmer! We've already gotten out of school for -20 temperatures. We do a lot of hiking in the summer, but these looooooong winters mean we get very restless. Lots of reading, yes, but we can't wait until we can stretch our legs again!
