Being Happy and Waiting Too

our palates

Kids being kids

A few weeks ago I had a rough weekend when Patrick was out of town, and we were sick. I'm thankful for the help lots of friends gave me. After tucking the boys into bed, I came out to find Josie asleep on the floor, Little House on the Prairie open to where we had been reading. It was so precious. She and I read a chapter every night, and we are already on the third book. I love reading about a simpler time. And of course this scene put me in awe of my beautiful children and made me wonder if I was really doing a good enough job. I think I am though. I think we need to focus more on what we are doing right and just being happy instead of always waiting for the next thing or finding problems. We can just be happy.

Speaking of waiting for things, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Buster #3. Within three weeks, I will be holding him in my arms!

In anticipation of having another boy in the house, Josie has really been into having "special time" with me. The other day we played dolls. I like dressing them and then taking a nap, and she likes playing with them. It works out.

Keeping with my nine-month stretch of not putting my words together very well, I will just end this post with a list of thoughts:
1. The other day I meant to say lasagna, but instead I said Los Angeles. Nice one.
2. It is very hot here-- like 90's every day and expected to become hotter next week. I am most comfortable in my underwear only or submerged in water.
3. I have sewn some things for the baby. Simon is my sewing helper. On spending some personal time recently, I have noticed that he has a particular way of doing things, and he is a learn-by-touching things type of guy.
4. Kyle now says all of our names (Dada, Mama, Do, Simo, Kyle) and he also now says thank you if you give him something. Based on a count we did a couple months ago, we estimate his vocabulary to be at 125+ words.
5. I am somewhat addicted to researching family history.
6. Patrick has been working on his Master's thesis. I'm so glad it is he writing it, and not I.
7. We went swimming today. Although I'm getting older, I still tan very easily. I'm glad.

i love the update. you can say los angeles and mean whatever you want... whenever you want. also in these final 3 week try using the words... baby needs... like baby needs watermelon patrick, josie baby needs you to pick up the toys with simon. :) at least that's what i plan on doing when that moment arrives. miss your face and prego belly.

Yay! So soon you'll have a sweet baby boy! I can't wait to hear how it goes. I've been thinking about you often and am quite jealous of your tan.

You are a great mom and such a good example. I wish we lived closer (again) so I could learn even more from you! Good luck with baby #4's upcoming delivery. You'll do awesome!
